Stephen Bekanich, MD, MBA

Dr. Bekanich is the senior medical director for Seton Health Plan and Clinical Advisor for Business Development for Ascension Texas in Austin, TX. He also practices palliative medicine within the Seton Palliative Care program. His clinical supervision roles have included establishing hospital consultations services; a variety of palliative medicine outpatient clinics; innovative models for the delivery of palliative care outside of the hospital; and educational opportunities for the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas.

Dr. Bekanich is the recipient of awards for medical leadership, innovation in health care, teaching, and patient and family satisfaction. He serves as the Senior Section Editor-Symptoms Management Group for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine’s online publication. He conducts research in the field of patient communication, pain and care transformation.
