Clay Carsner, MHA
Clay Carsner is the Chief Operating Officer for Ascension Medical Group – Texas, which currently manages over 900 physicians and advanced practice providers throughout the central Texas region from South of Austin to north of Waco. In this role, he is responsible for the financial management of the enterprise along with business development and strategy. During his tenure, AMG-TX has moved to a single electronic medical record platform, consolidated its organizational structure highlighting physician leadership and a multidisciplinary practice approach, standardized physician compensation strategy, and has grown the net revenue of the group from $125M to $225M annually.
Clay’s previous work at Ascension included the development of adult neurosciences for the network as the Director of Operations for the Seton Brain and Spine Institute. Before joining Seton, Clay worked in a variety of roles within the healthcare industry over the previous 15 years including roles as Chief Executive Officer for a large multispecialty physician practice and the Principal for his own consulting company. Prior to moving into physician practice management, Clay served in a leadership role for a national managed care organization focusing on network development, physician relations and accreditation initiatives including becoming the first national Preferred Provider Organization accredited by the Joint Commission. Clay also served as staff to a Texas state senator working two sessions of the Legislature where his focus was on finance and health and human services.
